The challenge
The multiplication table is learned by repetition, and repetition is boring. Flashcards and quiz apps feel like homework, kids quit after a few days, and generic drills spend most of the time on facts a child already knows instead of the ones they keep getting wrong.
Parents, meanwhile, have no clear picture of what has actually been learned.
The solution
Numi hides the drill inside a game. The child picks a monster on the world map, a problem like 7 × 8 appears, and a correct answer before the timer runs out is a hit. Streaks power up critical strikes, victories bring gold and experience, gold buys swords, shields and new heroes, and achievements keep the next goal in sight.
Under the game is an adaptive trainer. For every fact it tracks accuracy, answer time, streaks and recent mistakes, and picks the next problem with weighted randomness: weak facts come up noticeably more often, facts not seen for a day return for review, and new multipliers unlock as the hero levels up. A statistics screen shows parents mastery per multiplier and a 9 × 9 knowledge map.
Key capabilities
- 01
Adaptive problem engine
Weights each fact by accuracy, speed, fading recent mistakes and spaced repetition — practice goes where it's needed.
- 02
A real game loop
Monsters, streak bonuses up to ×3 damage, a shop, 18 achievements and six difficulty tiers that grow with the hero.
- 03
Progress parents can read
Accuracy, average answer time, mastery per multiplier, a 9 × 9 heat map and the hardest facts listed.
- 04
Made for small hands
Big touch targets, light and dark themes, reduced-motion support and a timer that can be switched off.
- 05
Native feel on Android
Haptics, status bar, splash screen and offline play via Capacitor — from the same React codebase as the web.
- 06
Zero-asset sound
All sound effects are synthesized live with the Web Audio API — tiny app size and no licensing questions.

The result
The web version is live, and the Android app built from the same codebase is in Google Play review. Numi runs entirely on the device — no accounts, no servers, no data about children leaving the phone.
The adaptive engine and game loop are content-agnostic, so the same approach extends to addition, division, spelling or any skill that is learned by practice.
